Two New Haven Detectives Rear Ended by Drunk Driver

Oftentimes, strong defenses can be raised to challenge DUI charges based on a lack of reasonable suspicion to stop and detain a motor vehicle.  However sometimes, as in this case, the actions of the motorist make it unmistakably clear that the police had the requisite reasonable suspicion to investigate.

Here, the driver rear ended a marked police cruiser which contained two New Haven Police Detectives.  This allows the police to investigate further.  Not only did they end up charging the driver of the vehicle with driving under the influence and reckless driving, but they also charged him with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a weapon, and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.
